Re: Proton Mail (web)

Proton Mail (web)

Step 1

Open All settings

Click the gear icon in the top right of Proton Mail and choose All settings to open the full settings area.

Step 2

Go to Identity and addresses

Select Identity and addresses in the left sidebar. You will see the display name and a signature editor for the selected address.

Step 3

Pick the right address

If your plan includes multiple addresses or aliases, choose the one you want from the address selector first. Signatures are stored per address, so each alias can carry its own sign-off.

Step 4

Paste your signature

Copy the rendered signature from your generator's preview and paste it into the editor. Proton keeps the inline styles and table layout, and the toolbar handles small text tweaks afterward.

Step 5

Save and test

Save the change, then send a message to an outside address like Gmail. Checking in a different client shows you exactly what recipients see, including the Proton footer if you are on the free plan.

Re: Proton Mail apps (iOS & Android)

Proton Mail apps (iOS & Android)

Step 1

Open the app settings

Tap the menu button in the Proton Mail app, choose Settings, and select the account you want to adjust.

Step 2

Look for the signature option

The apps expose a per-account signature setting. Edits made here apply to messages you compose on that device, so keep it consistent with the web version.

Step 3

Check the mobile footer

The apps also append their own line, such as 'Sent from Proton Mail for iOS'. Look for a mobile footer setting to edit or turn it off. On free accounts this footer may not be editable.

Re: Doing it well

Tips for Proton Mail signatures

Get the best results when setting up your email signature.

Per-address signatures
Proton ties each signature to a specific address rather than to the account. If you use aliases for support, billing, or personal mail, open Identity and addresses and give each one an appropriate sign-off.
The footer on free plans
Free Proton accounts add 'Sent with Proton Mail secure email' below your messages. It sits outside your control until you upgrade, so factor it into how your signature reads on the free tier.
Rich paste works well
The Identity and addresses editor preserves pasted tables, colors, and links. Build the design elsewhere, copy the rendered preview, and paste. Retyping inside the small editor is slower and easier to get wrong.
Plan for blocked images
Privacy-minded recipients, including other Proton users, often block remote images by default. Keep your name, role, and contact details as real text so the signature stays useful when the logo does not load.
Test in a non-Proton inbox
Proton to Proton mail is end-to-end encrypted and renders inside Proton's own interface. Send a test to Gmail or Outlook to see the signature the way most of your contacts actually will.

Re: Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Proton Mail email signatures.

Where do I add a signature in Proton Mail?+

Click the gear icon, choose All settings, then open Identity and addresses. Each address has its own signature editor there, along with the display name shown on your outgoing mail.

Does Proton Mail support HTML signatures?+

Yes. The signature editor in Identity and addresses keeps pasted rich content intact, including table layouts, inline styles, and linked images. Paste the rendered preview from your generator rather than pasting source code into the field.

How do I remove the 'Sent with Proton Mail' line?+

That line is a promotional footer on free accounts and cannot be switched off at that tier. Upgrading to a paid Proton plan removes it, after which your own signature stands alone at the bottom of your messages.

Do Proton Mail signatures work on mobile?+

The iOS and Android apps have per-account signature settings, and they add their own mobile footer such as 'Sent from Proton Mail for Android'. Check the app settings for both options, and note that free accounts may not be able to edit the mobile footer.

Can I add a logo to a Proton Mail signature?+

Yes, as long as the logo is hosted at a public HTTPS URL. Paste HTML from any generator, including BrandFooter's free one, and the image reference comes along with it. Remember that some recipients block remote images until they choose to load them.

Can each of my Proton addresses have a different signature?+

Yes. Signatures in Proton Mail are stored per address, so a work alias, a support alias, and a personal address can each carry a different design. Select the address in Identity and addresses and edit its signature separately.
